Using the resource

Students can work collaboratively in groups to:

  • describe management practices that assist in providing safe drinking water and protecting habitats (Water catchments)
  • outline the role of chemists (Water quality)
  • describe how Sydney’s water supply system is monitored and managed (Water quality)
  • perform first-hand investigations of water quality (Investigations)
  • identify possible sources of contamination in Sydney’s drinking water catchments (Water contamination)
  • assess water filtration processes used by Sydney Water (Water quality).

Students can then gather, process and present information about their local town water supply.
