Your task

Your task is to match the four water samples (A, B, C, D) to the land use type in the catchment:

  • intensive agriculture
  • urban
  • mine (mineral)
  • undisturbed bushland.

Results are supplied for water sample D.

The results from your first-hand investigation are vital to know the water quality of samples A, B and C. You need to make a connection between the land use types (contamination sources) and your experimental results.

Demonstrations of testing for electrical conductivity, turbidity and available phosphates are provided to help you do first-hand investigations in the laboratory. You can undertake a virtual dissolved oxygen experiment and/or do the experiment yourself.
