About pH

pH is a measure of the relative acidity or alkalinity of a substance. pH is the hydrogen ion (H+) concentration.

A pH scale showing a range of common substances and their pH, e.g. ammonia has a pH of 11.4, vinegar has a pH of 3.0.

pH is expressed on a log scale of 0 (acid) to 14 (alkaline), with the neutral point at 7.
