This resource has been designed to address some of the outcomes of the NSW Board of Studies Stage 6 Biology syllabus; core module 9.4.2 - The search for better health.

 

"This module increases students' understanding of the history, nature and practice, the application and uses of biology, and the implications of biology for society and the environment" (page 47: NSW Biology syllabus).

 

Skills that can be developed using this resources:


  • H12.3a accessing information from a range of resources, including popular scientific journals, digital technologies and the Internet
  • H12.3c extracting information form numerical data in graphs and tables as well as from written and spoken material in all its forms
  • H12.3d summarising and collating information from a range of resources
  • H12.3e identifying practicing male and female Australian scientists, the areas in which they are currently working and information about their research
  • H12.4a assess the accuracy of any measurements and calculations and relative importance of the data and information gathered
  • H12.4e assess the reliability of first hand and secondary information and data by considering information from various sources
  • H14.1g use cause and effect relationships to explain phenomena
  • H14.3b propose ideas that demonstrate coherence and logical progression and include correct use of scientific principles and ideas
